FAQs

What makes your candy sweet if you don't use sugar?
Our organic tapioca base provides about 70% as much sweetness as cane sugar. We describe it as a "soft, honey-like texture" that coats your mouth, tricking your taste buds into thinking its sweeter than it really is.

What is tapioca starch?
Tapioca starch comes from the cassava plant root. It is lower calorie than can sugar and also a prebiotic which aids in digestion.

What is the difference between a prebiotic and probiotic?
Prebiotics are functional ingredients that stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Think of it this way... prebiotics are food for the bacteria already in your gut. Probiotics are live bacteria you're adding to your gut.

Is tapioca starch safe to eat?
Absolutely! The ingredient is approved by governments the world over including the USA, Canada, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, and others.

Does your citric acid come from corn?
Yes, it's derived from corn grown in the USA and is compliant with all applicable regulations.

How many calories are in your candies?
About 10 calories per lollipop and about 6 calories per candy drop.

Do your products have any allergens?
Our candies are made in a dedicated allergen-friendly facility that is free from dairy, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, and soy.

Why does your packaging say "No Sugar Added" instead of "Sugar Free"?
A couple reasons. First, sugar-free has historically had a bad rep because people assume its full of chemicals and artificial flavors. We didn't want to be associated with that. Second, we do business around the world and the phrase 'no sugar added' makes clearing customs easier in many countries.

What does "Sugar Free" really mean?
In the USA, "sugar free" is defined as a food that contains less than 0.5 grams of sugar per serving.

Are your products Non-GMO?
Yes, they are. To qualify as a USDA certified organic product you cannot use any GMO ingredients. This means using the Non-GMO Project logo is unnecessary.

Will your candy give me cavities?
While we don't use xylitol to fight cavities because it can cause tummy distress, the lower sugar content of our products will not cause cavities at the same rate as sugary products will.
